Final Moves Before the WSL Returns

The countdown is officially on.

With less than a week until the 2026/27 Women’s Super League season kicks off, squads are taking shape and the final pieces of the transfer puzzle are falling into place.

We’ve been following the madness all summer, from the first big moves of the 2026 transfer window to the huge signings that followed in August.

And somehow, there’s still more to talk about.

With the summer transfer window still open, there may even be time for one last surprise.

Here are some of the latest transfers that caught our attention.

⚽️

Gabby George: Manchester United → Brighton

Brighton have added some serious WSL experience with the signing of Gabby George from Manchester United.

The 29-year-old defender spent three seasons at United and was part of their FA Cup-winning side before making the move south.

Brighton finished an impressive fifth last season and have quietly been strengthening again this summer. George joins fellow new arrival Lia Wälti in what is starting to look like a very interesting squad.

And their first game of the season? Arsenal at home.

No pressure then.

Bethany England: Tottenham → Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are back in the WSL, and they’ve brought a proven goalscorer with them.

Bethany England has joined Palace after leaving Tottenham, bringing years of WSL experience and, most importantly, goals.

The former Chelsea striker has won league titles, lifted the FA Cup and represented England on the biggest stage.

For a newly promoted team trying to establish themselves in the WSL, this feels like exactly the type of signing you want.

Lia Wälti: Juventus → Brighton

And Brighton weren’t finished.

Swiss captain Lia Wälti is back in England after joining from Juventus, bringing even more experience to a side that could be one of the league’s most interesting teams this season.

Wälti previously spent seven years at Arsenal, winning the WSL and becoming one of the club’s most reliable midfielders.

A WSL return at 33?

We are absolutely here for it.

Pauline Peyraud-Magnin: Juventus → Crystal Palace

Palace haven’t only strengthened at the other end of the pitch.

France international goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin has also joined the newly promoted side after leaving Juventus.

The 34-year-old has played for Lyon, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid and Juventus, winning league titles in France, England and Italy along the way.

Bethany England at one end. Peyraud-Magnin at the other.

Palace certainly aren’t approaching their return to the WSL quietly.

Holly McNamara: Melbourne City → Everton

This could be a very clever one.

Everton have signed Australian forward Holly McNamara after a brilliant spell with Melbourne City, where she won the A-League Women Golden Boot twice.

The 23-year-old arrives in England with a reputation for scoring goals and could give Everton some much-needed extra firepower.

She might not be the biggest name to arrive in the WSL this summer, but she could end up being one of the signings worth keeping an eye on.

Monica Jusu Bah: Brann → Manchester United

And Manchester United have made a late addition of their own.

Norway international Monica Jusu Bah has joined United from Brann, adding another attacking option just days before the new WSL season begins.

The 21-year-old winger is one of Norway’s exciting young talents and arrives as part of a summer of major change at United.

Could she become one of the WSL’s breakout players this season?

The WSL Is Almost Back

After one of the busiest and most dramatic transfer windows women’s football has seen, we finally get to see these new-look teams on the pitch.

The 2026/27 WSL season begins on Friday 4 September, and this year’s league feels particularly difficult to predict.

Alexia Putellas and Mapi León at London City Lionesses. Beth Mead at Manchester City. Katie McCabe at Chelsea. Georgia Stanway and Ona Batlle at Arsenal. Bethany England at Crystal Palace.

And that’s barely scratching the surface.

The transfer window isn’t quite finished yet either, so there’s still time for one final blockbuster.

But one thing is certain.

The WSL is almost back.

And we cannot wait.
